The Commission to Study Campaign Finance Law was authorized in May 2011 (Joint Resolution no. 1, Acts of 2011). The Commission is to examine those parts of the State election code that relate to campaign financing, and also collect information about similar laws, including federal laws, and similar practices in other jurisdictions. The source of, role, and current limits of campaign contributions will be considered by the Commission. Further, issues concerning the feasibility of a voluntary system of public financing are to be examined, as well as the role of candidate slates. Also, responsibility for enforcing election laws is to be scrutinized by the Commission.

Authorization for the Commission extends through June 30, 2013.
