The Maryland Green Purchasing Committee was created on October 1, 2010 (Chapters 593 & 594, Acts of 2010). For State agencies, the Committee provides information, assistance, and guidelines for environmentally preferable purchasing, so that Maryland is procuring goods and services that have a lesser or reduced impact on human health and the environment.

The Committee's nine members all serve ex officio (Code State Finance & Procurement Article, secs. 14-409, 14-410).
